The Cancer Care Center, based at Valdese Hospital, includes inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical treatment for cancer as well as radiation therapy. Medical oncology will continue to be offered at Grace Hospital. Plans also call for incorporating complementary medicine into treatment options.
In Burke County alone, nearly 1,500 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed (excluding common skin cancers), according to the NC Cancer Registry, so community health screenings, cancer education and prevention will continue to be an important focus under the Hallmark Services plan.
