Cardiac Rehab at Blue Ridge HealthCare

Patients recovering from a heart attack, cardiac surgery or other heart-related illnesses require a prescription of exercise and lifestyle modification to resume active and productive lives.

Our cardiac rehabilitation services assist physicians in treating cardiac patients to lower complications, reduce hospital re-admissions and maximize quality of patient care.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Services at Blue Ridge HealthCare System include:

Multi-disciplinary Approach
The cardiac rehabilitation team includes an exercise physiologist, cardiac nurse, stress management professional, dietitian and vocational rehabilitation counselor. Patients are referred to the program by their physician, who receives monthly progress reports. The program provides consultations for diet, stress, body composition and education. After graduation, patients are offered a variety of exercise options including state-of-the-art cardiovascular equipment, with monitoring by cardiac rehabilitation staff. Patients are also offered classes on weight management, nutrition, exercise, stress management and more.

Outpatient Rehabilitation
After discharge from the hospital, patients are evaluated by the cardiac rehabilitation team for risk factors such as smoking, obesity, diet, stress, high blood pressure and diabetes. They then receive an individualized program based on these factors. Patients are monitored during exercise sessions.

The Cardiac Rehabilitation program is now offered at Valdese Hospital in the rehabilitation area on B (lower) level of the new addition.
