Why We Love Burke County and Western North Carolina
Why do we love Burke County and Western North Carolina? Here are some comments by our employees:
- I like the small town atmosphere of places like Morganton and Valdese. People are so nice and they really want to be your neighbor.
- The schools are very good in the area, and the real estate rates are still very reasonable.
- Where else can you live and go snow skiing less than an hour away and then go to Myrtle Beach in about five hours? I have enjoyed snow one week, and then I've sunbathed the next!
- I like the fact that I can go shopping in Hickory or Charlotte anytime I want, but I don't have to deal with the traffic or crime problems of those places on a day-to-day basis.
- We are situated right in the middle of some of the most beautiful country you'll find, and it's within 30 to 60 minutes of big city shopping and culture.
- I like being in the heart of NASCAR country.
- All the spring and summer festivals are fun. The area is a haven for arts and crafts junkies.
- I love the lake and mountains.
- I like being able to get across town in 5 minutes. I like being able to know most of the people in town. I like it that crime rates are very low. I like to go camping and hiking in beautiful places with my son's scout groups.
- I like it that I don't have to worry about my car getting stolen from my driveway. You'll never hear of a driveby shooting in Burke County.
- There's alot of cultural diversity in the area. Almost everybody is accepted here. It's a friendly place to live.
- The people make this place great. They are friendly and helpful - unless you want their money!
- I love the four-season climate. The weather is mild and agreeable. The Autumns in this area are gorgeous.
- Lots of arts and cultural events in the area. I like to go to Asheville - it's only 50 minutes away. I like living here though, because the weather is better and everything is more affordable.
